According to sources, the commercial bus did not stop at the check point and did not slow down because the driver already knew that they would ask for money. Meanwhile the bus was on speed.
The custom officers who didn't like the fact that the driver sped off, shot at the bus tire and the bus tumbled and crashed.
9 people died in this accident, some died instantly while others died in the hospital they took them to "General hospital Ijebu Ode".
The person that shared this news with me said his friends girlfriend was in the bus that crashed, unfortunately she died instantly. She came to Lagos to spend some time with her boyfriend and it was on her way back to school this happened. The doctor at ijebu ode general hospital picked her call when he was calling her and told him about the accident.
The driver of the bus did not die but his legs were amputated (cut off). The custom officers fled from the scene of the accident.
This is just so sad that people keep dying from things like this everyday, I hope the right authorities would find out the officers on duty at that check point and bring them to book.
