The authorities have warned citizens and residents of Congo-Brazaville against wearing Niqab and banned them from wearing Niqab and the Burka, in public places. They also forbade muslims from other countries from spending nights in mosques.
Many Muslims have fled violence in the neighboring Central African Republic and have been taking shelter in mosques. The measures are designed to identify extremist andcounter extremism.
